A close-up of the mommy and the baby. She was licking the baby, cleaning off all of that birthing goo that unfortunately comes packaged with live-birth young for no additional charge.

Wow, how absolutely beautiful! Congrats on the baby skinks! Tell me, are they hard to care for, skinks in general?

Thanks! This particular species is generally considered one of the more difficult to care for. But there are other skinks that are far simpler. I would recommend the Blue Tongue Skink. They're great animals and very hardy.

They are very snake-like. Scientists believe that skinks (such as these) are slowly evolving into lizards. Skinks slither along the ground, like snakes; they don't use their limbs as much as other lizards.

Hee hee! You should hold one! You'd melt.

:D The only other reptile I've ever held is a small lizard... And snakes. I luv snakes so much... But the skinks are cute as well. :D ^^ I bet you love them... ;_; I wish I could have one.

Thanks for the advice! I just adore skinks, but I wasn't sure of their temperment or how difficult they were to care for.
